Dear parents and carers,
As you may be aware, the Queensland Government has announced that students in years 2, 3 4, 5 and 6 will be returning to school and participating in classroom learning from Monday 25th May 2020.
If parents choose not to send their child to school, they will be responsible for their child’s learning at home – the classroom teacher will no longer be responsible for providing alternative home-based learning.
As social distancing is still required for adults, it has been requested that schools utilise stop, drop and go as the method of drop off and pick up for students to eliminate any unnecessary gathering of adults on school grounds. Please also be aware that school bus services are still running.
Health and safety
Unwell students are not to attend the school site and the school must ask parents to collect their child from school immediately if they are unwell.
Please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle. The bubblers will only be available for the filling up of personal drink bottles.
We will continue to maintain our strict hygiene measures including regular handwashing and regular cleaning of play equipment and materials.
Pick up and drop off
Education Queensland operating guidelines require us to restrict parent access to the school grounds. Our drop off and pick up processes will be as follows:
Drop off from the 25th May
Stop, drop and go will be supervised in the morning (8:15 – 8:45am) by staff to ensure that as children are dropped off they are making their way to the undercover area. If your child is not capable of getting themselves in and out of the car unassisted you will need to park in the carpark. Parents must not exit their vehicle while in the stop, drop and go lane. This will ensure everyone’s safety.
Alternatively, you may still park your car in the carpark and walk your child across the pedestrian crossing to where a staff member will be waiting to ensure your child goes to the undercover area.
Bus students will continue to arrive at school as normal.
Please be aware that pedestrian entrances near the office and by the school mailbox will not be accessible.
Pick up from the 25th May
Due to the number of students we will have onsite, afternoon pick up will be staggered and split into two sessions.
2:30pm pick up: Prep students, year 1 students and the siblings of prep and year one students, as well as siblings of those children who are being collected from Woodhill C and K will be taken to the stop drop and go area at 2:30 pm each day for collection. You may either use the stop, drop and go lane or you may park in the carpark and your child will come across the crossing to you.
3:00pm pick up: Year 2,3,4,5 and 6 students who are not the sibling of a prep, year one or C and K child will be taken to the stop, drop and go area for collection at 3pm each day. You may either use the stop, drop and go lane or you may park in the carpark and your child will come across the crossing to you.
Bus students will be supervised as per normal.
As with morning drop off, please do not use stop, drop and go if your child requires assistance - If your child is not capable of getting themselves in and out of the car unassisted you will need to park in the carpark. Parents must not exit their vehicle while in the stop, drop and go lane. This will ensure everyone’s safety.

You will receive a text message from the school asking you to respond with which method of collection you will predominantly be using to collect your child (car park, stop, drop and go, bus). This information will assist us with ensuring we have the appropriate number of staff available.
A name sign has been made for all of those families that don’t currently have one, to display in your car if you are using stop, drop and go.
These signs will be available for collection in the parent plaza 8:15am – 3:45pm Tuesday – Friday this week.
Thank you to all of our families for your assistance with implementing these processes. Your patience and understanding is appreciated as we introduce these procedures.
We look forward to seeing youall next week.
