Dear parents and carers,
As you may be aware, the Queensland Government has announced
that students in prep and year one will be returning to school and
participating in classroom learning from Monday 11th May 2020.
If parents choose not to send their prep or year one child
to school, they will be responsible for their child’s learning at home – the classroom
teacher will no longer be responsible for providing alternative home-based
learning . As is the current process, If
your child is participating in learning at home, parents will need to advise
the school on a daily basis – if contact is not made then normal student
absence processes will apply.
As social distancing is still required for adults, it has
been requested that schools utilise stop, drop and go as the method of drop off
and pick up for students to eliminate any unnecessary gathering of adults on
school grounds. Please also be aware
that school bus services are still running.
Children of essential workers are also able to attend school
when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can
be made. Essential worker means any
worker who must continue to attend their work for essential business. Please be aware that evidence of your
required attendance at work may be requested.
If low transmission rates continue, it is expected that
students in years 2 – 6 will return to school on the 25th May
2020. An announcement regarding this will
be made by Friday 15th May 2020.
