Dear Parents/caregivers, 

 

Welcome back to Term 4!  Below is the outline of what is expected, students are encouraged to return their homework each fortnight. 

Weekly homework tasks: 

  • Practice spelling words and activities  
  • Home reading chart to log their reading.  
  • Daily Maths mentals (Mon- Thurs)  

Term 4 Curriculum Overview:  

 

English/Science/ HASS (linked): 

Year 4 - Students will deliver a spoken recount in role as a character from a particular historical context, linked to our prior unit, in Term 2 about Early settlement and British colonisation.  

Year 5 - Students will create a digital multimodal short story, linking to our Science unit about the Solar System. They will include an ethical issue that needs to be resolved. 

Maths -   Students will be learning about factors and multiples, connecting decimals and fractions, calculating time, to solve simple purchasing problems, describing and analysing data, chance and probability. 

Science linked with English - Our Solar System:  Student will be learning about our solar system, with a focus on the relationship between the sun, Earth, and the moon. Students will model the orbital and rotational movement of planets in our solar system and investigate how this movement of the Earth and the moon defines our years, seasons, days and nights.

HASS linked with English –  Civics and Citizenship: Students will learn the key values that underpin Australia's democracy and the explore the electoral processes. Students will learn how people with shared beliefs and values can work together to achieve a civic goal. 

Health - Strategies to promote health and wellbeing.

  • Dance Fever - Tuesday 12:00 – 12:45 
  • The Arts -Wednesday 12:15 - 1:15 

  • Japanese - Tuesday 8:45 - 9:25  

  • Friday clubs: Friday 2-3pm  

  • Gardening: Tuesdays (even week) 2-3pm
