Welcome to 2021 and Year 5/6 D
English: Students will engage with procedural texts, poetry and media texts during semester two. Students will experiment with the use of allusion, alliteration, hyperbole and onomatopoeia.
Science: During term 3, students will explore how electrical energy can be transferred and transformed and can be generated from a range of sources. Students will also explore how light from a source forms shadows and can be absorbed, reflected and refracted. While in term 4, students will explore states of matter including properties, features and how they can be changed.
HASS: Students will explore the history, role, key features and responsibilities of the government along with how laws come about. Along with this, students will explore the diversity of different countries as well as Australia's connection to them and their Indigenous cultures.
Mathematics: Students will investigate and further develop their knowledge around units of measurement, number and place value, patterns and algebra and geometric reasoning. This will be achieved through number talks, investigations and problem solving.
Homework: As per our homework policy at Woodhill State School homework tasks are designed to encourage students to develop independent learning skills and responsibility as they prepare to enter high school.
