Welcome to 2021 and Year 5/6 D
English: Students will engage with narrative texts, persuasive speech and media texts during semester one. They will read examples, along with planning, writing and editing their own pieces of work.
Science: Students will be investigating the structural features of living things and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment. Along with the growth and survival of living things that are affected by the physical conditions of their environment. We will then continue our learning journey by looking at the Earth as part of a system of planets orbiting around a star (the sun) and sudden geological changes or extreme weather conditions can affect Earth's surface.
HASS: Students will explore needs, wants, and their impact on real world problems and decisions along with the relationship between consumers and businesses. Students will also learn about life in Australia including significant people, groups, developments and events from colonisation to modern day and what it means to be Australian.
Mathematics: Students will engage in learning activities designed to investigate number and place value, chance, fractions and decimals, data representation and interpretation and students will also use units of measurement.
Homework: As per our homework policy at Woodhill State School homework tasks are designed to encourage students to develop independent learning skills and responsibility as they prepare to enter high school.
