Welcome Prep/1 G

Welcome

Welcome to Term 4.  I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable break!  I am looking forward to seeing out the rest of the year with our class.

English

In English this term, we will be learning to write procedures - recipes.  We will be looking at the structure of a recipe - goal/title, equipment/materials, method/how to/steps of recipes and students will eventually write their own recipe for a disgusting sandwich!  We will look at the language used in procedures and select and draw images to match recipes.  We are going to top the week off by cooking our recipes on Thursdays.

Reading will be a focus this term as well as continuing to work on our phonics and sight words.  We will have scheduled reading groups times and I will contact parents/carers who have offered to volunteer in the class to hopefully help during these times.

Maths

Our focus for maths this term is:

Preps - continuing to work on counting to and from 0 to 20 from any starting point, recognising and identifying the numbers 0 to 20 in words, symbols and digits.

Year 1 - number, shape, location and time.

We will have focused lessons as well as number talks and group rotations.
